Dr. Aijaz Ahmad John Bhat has created history by becoming the first Kashmiri to receive the prestigious 2025 ASBMR Harold M. Frost Young Investigator Award, presented by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).
Originally from Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Aijaz is currently serving as a Senior Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, USA. His research focuses on bone biology, skeletal development, stem cell regulation, and advanced therapies for bone diseases.
He completed his PhD in Biological Sciences from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute and qualified highly competitive national examinations including CSIR-NET, ICAR-NET, and GATE. Over the years, he has published numerous international research papers and earned recognition from global scientific organizations.
In 2025, he was selected among only a few young researchers worldwide for the ASBMR Harold M. Frost Young Investigator Award, making him the first person from Kashmir to achieve this honour.
Dr. Aijaz will also participate in the ORS International Musculoskeletal Biology Workshop in Midway, Utah, USA, representing Kashmiri scientific talent on the global stage.
