Shakir Bashir Dar has built an inspiring sporting journey through dedication, resilience, and exceptional endurance. Beginning with success in wrestling, where he earned a District Gold Medal and a Bronze Medal at the State Wrestling Championship, he later expanded his achievements into athletics and marathon running.
Among his most remarkable accomplishments, Shakir became the first athlete from Jammu & Kashmir to complete the 10K National Marathon Championship in Delhi while observing Roza (fasting), showcasing extraordinary physical and mental strength. He also created history by becoming the first athlete from Jammu & Kashmir to complete the 6-Hour Stadium Run in Lucknow, finishing in 7th position.
His consistent participation in prestigious events—including the National Marathon Championship, Kashmir International Marathon (twice), Kargil Run, Wular Marathon, and Jammu & Kashmir Police Marathon—reflects his unwavering commitment to endurance sports.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions and achievements, Shakir Bashir Dar became the first player from Jammu & Kashmir to receive the prestigious Atulya Bharat Award at the 19th All India Talent Conference held in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
